Philosophy

A recording studio should have one goal: to accurately capture every element of a live performance, in all its intricacy and glory, true to the artist’s intent.

This requires not only technical skill and high fidelity equipment, but also years of experience. A great recording is a collaborative effort; a sound engineer and producer responding live to an artist’s dynamic vision and unique style.

Gundy Keller has recorded a wide variety of styles and genres for 30 years, and at A-TOWN recordings we’ve created a studio that has all the right tech, as well as a personal and comfortable atmosphere to allow an artist to perform at their highest level

We combine analog & digital recording methods, incorporating the full range of traditional and futuristic instruments in order to enable fresh and surprising musical ideas.

For example, with guitar recordings we employ traditional miking of cabinets and acoustic guitars side by side with Virtual Guitar Systems or sampled string instruments recorded via a Guitar-To-Midi-System

In many cases we use a combination of mixed acoustic drums and drumloops or drumgrooves recorded via Drum-To-Midi devices, most suitable for todays productions:

Control Room

The heart of A-TOWN recordings control room consists of 2 cascaded digital mixers with a total of 48 input channels and 80 mixdown channels.

This extraordinary number of channels is usually not required, but it offers the option to individually control and mix tons of tracks, signals and instruments simultaneously, which is a great benefit when producing commercial productions.

Recording Rooms

A-TOWN recordings offers several recording rooms: The Drum Recording Room, the Big Recording Room as a well as a small Vocal Cabin located directly in the 60 square meter Control Room.

Relax Zone

The Relax Zone is located in the very back of the Control Room and has ample room for musicians and guests to be present during the producing and mixing process without being in the way of the mixing desk area.
